Redefining the future of healthcare comms with ‘Value, Trust & Expertise’ The healthcare landscape is witnessing a tectonic shift. Innovations in the pharmaceuticals and medical devices and emerging newer therapies improving patient outcomes are picking pace and policy changes are transforming the way healthcare is accessed and delivered. The last decade has witnessed a paradigm shift in healthcare PR comms, especially with the advent of new digital technology disruptors and social media channels, with the focus of policymakers and civil society moving away from a volume and profits based industry model toward a ‘value-based’ model. Understanding the need for a tool that would carve the road to effective communications for the times ahead, SPAG launched Pave the Wave, a healthcare report at PRAXIS 2019 that focussed on the need for a Value, Expertise and Trust model.
The specialist report was based on conversations with leading experts across Asia-Pacific unveiled highlighted new communications framework for healthcare industry, called ‘VET Model’.
The report takes a closer look at how healthcare has gone beyond ‘pill’. What we see now is a radical change in customer behaviour, which has prompted the industry and communicators to find newer ways of treating and interacting with people. Not only have treatments changed, but the communication around treatments has also seen a dynamic shift, bringing the spotlight back on the role of healthcare communicators in the Asia Pacific region.
The report takes a qualitative look at this new paradigm of trust, where Value, Expertise and Trust are together fundamentally changing the state of healthcare. The model recognises the importance of healthcare communications that is steadily moving away from being a support function to becoming more and more central to business growth.
